East Carolina Ivy Foundation, Inc.

Our Beginnings

East Carolina Ivy Foundation, Inc., an affiliate of the Iota Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc., supports programs fostering educational and scholarly endeavors, top-quality health status, economic fulfillment, and cultural and artistic enrichment in the City of Greenville and the surrounding communities of Pitt County.

Established December 12, 2012, the foundation, also known as (ECIF, Inc.), is a recognizable charitable foundation in the State of North Carolina with 501(c),3, federal tax-exempt status.

Our signature fund-raising program is the Jazz Brunch and Annual Day of Giving. In 2024, the East Carolina Ivy Foundation, Inc. partnered with Pitt County sponsors to provide funding of over $29,000.00  to local community organizations, Pitt Community College and academic awards to high school students.

Since its chartering in 1972, beginning with a small complement of college-educated women devoted to locally carrying out the national ideals and program initiatives of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Iota Kappa Omega chapter now hails as a beacon of “Service to All Mankind” in Greenville and Pitt County.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the first sorority founded by women of color, January 15, 1908, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C.  Today, it is an international service organization striving for global impact.
